The Olympic team is back home. The sailors are expected to arrive in Hamburg in the evening with the bronze crew Erik Heil and Thomas Plößel

Tonight, bronze medallists Erik Heil and Thomas Plößel and their team-mates from Sailing Team Germany will land at Hamburg Airport at 7.05 pm. The German Sailing Association (DSV) and the North German Regatta Association (NRV) have organised a welcome party to celebrate the medal winners and their teammates from 7 p.m. in the arrivals hall at Terminal 2. Families, friends, invited guests and the press are invited to a reception afterwards in the Mövenpick Restaurant on Level 3.

The sailors have already published their first celebratory pictures after the stopover in Frankfurt. The sailors left Rio de Janeiro on Monday evening on the winning plane of the German medallists. After a short night, the adrenalin of joy, memories and good fellowship among the athletes is keeping them awake.

Another welcome party is planned for the bronze medallists Heil and Plößel on Thursday in their home city of Berlin. The Olympians will be celebrating with guests, fans and media representatives in the Audi City Berlin at Kurfürstendamm 195 from 5pm. For all those who want to take the tiller of the 49er dinghy in their own hands and let the wind blow around their noses in the trapeze, the "360 degree virtual reality sailing simulator", which already thrilled visitors at Kiel Week, will be available there.

Sailing is like a constantly refreshing declaration of love for life."
